Florida Society of Rheumatology Advocacy Center |
Here you will find information about the issues affecting Rheumatology and how you can get involved. Through our Action Center you have the capability to directly contact local legislators and urge them to support our causes. We encourage all Florida Society of Rheumatology members and visitors to use the resources provided and participate in upcoming advocacy events. For advocacy related questions please contact the FSR office via email. This advocacy tool enables FSR to send out action alerts, inform our members of critical health policy issues, and put our members in contact with their legislators. Our society has employed the services of a lobbyist to work on state issues and help us coordinate efforts with the state medical society and patient advocacy groups. Our lobbyist has allowed FSR to stay current on the important legislative and administrative
issues facing Florida rheumatologists and has helped shape our legislative agenda. Members of our executive committee have testified at legislative committee hearings and have visited with legislators in Tallahassee regarding these issues. We also
have met with the Office of Insurance Regulation and have worked on issues with AHCA. Recently were able to reach a reasonable conclusion of a Medicaid preferred drug list change through our advocacy. The Florida Society of Rheumatology Political Committee (FSR PC) is a separate, voluntary, non-partisan, committee comprised of FSR rheumatologists. The FSR PC purpose is to protect YOU, your PRACTICE, and your PATIENTS, and gives 100% of member contributions
to help elect physician-friendly candidates into the Florida legislature and executive offices. The FSR Board of Directors established the Capitol Club to encourage and recognize individual support of the FSR PC which exceeds the basic giving level. A $1,000+ donation helps establish a solid political foundation for the FSR PC that allows rheumatologists
to have a seat at the table as health care reforms are being discussed in Tallahassee |
