In July, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) proposed a 2.8% reduction in the CY 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) conversion factor. This ongoing decline once again highlights the unsustainability of the current Medicare payment system. In response, the American College of Radiology (ACR) has drafted a coalition letter urging Congress to adjust Medicare payments to match inflation (MEI) and emphasizing the urgent need for permanent reform.
As part of this effort, the Florida Society of Rheumatology has signed on to the coalition letter that will be sent to House and Senate leadership when Congress returns this month. It is crucial that Congress addresses this issue before the end of 2024 to ensure fair and sustainable Medicare payments for clinicians in 2025 and beyond.
